Six conversations in and we’re starting to notice a pattern.

None of the founders we’ve featured set out with a perfectly polished business plan or a crystal-clear vision of where they'd end up. Instead, they started with something much simpler: an idea they couldn't stop thinking about, a problem they wanted to solve, or a need they wished someone else had already filled.

Then they took the first step.

As we've gotten to know each of them, it's become clear that what they're building isn't static. Their businesses are evolving alongside them, shaped by the people they meet, the feedback they receive, and the communities that continue to grow around them. There's something really beautiful about that. It reminds us that you don't have to have the whole roadmap before you begin.

The other thing we can't stop thinking about is how deeply connected this city is.

Nearly every interview ends with, "You have to meet..." followed by another founder, artist, or small business owner. Those introductions have started weaving together in the coolest way. People we’ve gotten nosey with know each other, collaborate with one another, recommend one another, and genuinely want to see each other succeed. Every conversation seems to open the door to three more.

It's made Chicago feel a little smaller, but in the best possible way. They're building community + making room for other people to belong. We’re so grateful to get to share their stories.
